Academics
At Wessagusset, we work to create a supportive, high-achieving environment where every student has the opportunity to succeed. Our staff fosters a school-wide climate of high expectations, rooted in the belief that all students can reach their full potential. We emphasize a culture of reflection, feedback, and collaboration to ensure our mission is integrated into daily practice.
We celebrate student progress through various means, including individualized conferencing and recognition during assemblies.
- Our literacy instruction is based on the Wit and Wisdom and Fundations ELA curricula, which were introduced in the 2023-2024 school year. Both engage our students in reading, writing, and critical thinking.
- Math instruction is rooted in the Big Ideas curriculum, which encourages students to explore mathematical concepts deeply and develop problem-solving skills.
- Our science instruction is enriched by the fun and interactive Generation Genius curriculum, which brings science to life through engaging videos and hands-on activities.
- We integrate social-emotional learning (SEL) into our daily routines using the Second Step SEL curriculum as well as Peacebuilders and Circle Forward resources. These programs equip students with the skills to manage emotions, build healthy relationships, and make responsible decisions, laying the groundwork for lifelong success.
- We are a proud PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) school, where we emphasize positive behavior and a supportive learning environment. Our PBIS framework helps us cultivate a school culture that encourages respect, responsibility, and safety, reinforcing positive behaviors through recognition and rewards
